On February 17, 2009 President Obama signed into law the "Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2009". This bill extended tax credits for solar energy systems. The tax credit is for 30% of the cost of the solar system.

What is a tax credit?

A tax credit is a dollar for dollar credit against your tax liability. It is not a deduction. If you have a $2,000.00 tax credit and you paid over $2,000.00 in Federal income tax, the government will give it back so that you can take the same $2,000.00 and invest it in a solar system.

The government allows you to take a portion of your taxes and invest it in a solar system!
